It was an ordinary checkup for Mummy at 36 weeks, which we expect to be the last visit before we see Qi face to face. When doc did a check for mummy, he said that the amniotic fluid is drying up. Apparently, the water bag could have burst or leaked and we need to induce Qi out. We had to arrange for mummy to be warded on that day.
In the evening, doc gave mummy the medication to induce her labour.
Just 2 doses of the medicine (prostin), mummy went into labour at 5am.
The contractions became stronger and stronger. Mummy had to keep going to the toilet as there was this urge to pass urine. Only after delivery, both of us realised that mummy was leaking the amniotic fluid. There was stains left on the chair. As there was no bed in the delivery ward, mummy was asked to monitor the contraction. At about 6.15am, mummy could feel Qi coming out. The nurse then quickly pushed mummy down to delivery ward.
The staff at delivery ward had wanted to leave mummy in the triage as the beds were being tidied up. Mummy could not wait further and gave a hard push and Qi's head was out. The nurse then quickly pushed mummy into the delivery ward (Rm 8) and asked mummy to give another hard push. Qi's body came out but we all had to wait for Dr Loh to cut the umbilical cord. Mummy was so worried when Qi looked so blue when she was born. Luckily, Qi was alright. Qi arrived at 7.45am. She was such a pretty little bundle of joy, weighing 3.33kg at birth. Qi could immediately latch on mummy's left breast and suckle for a few minutes.
The delivery was so smooth and fast that daddy even took his laptop along thinking that it would be a long laborious process like Ning's. Daddy even forgot to bring along the cooler bag to hold the placenta. Mummy was going to harvest the placenta for self-consumption.
While Qi was being cleaned up, mummy was brought up to the ward (bed 8123).

Through the Ultrasound
Jan 2009- 5 weeks old
Feb 2009- 11 & 12th weeks - Developing well. You can see her very distinct human foetal shape taking place. Obviously. Luckily not a gorilla
Mar 2009- 16 weeks.
Finally mum and dad know Shyan Qi is a little princess. Just in time for daddy to buy new clothes for her from USA. Here a shot of her trying to wave her tiny hands at daddy & mummy

May 2009 -28 weeks
Cross section of her abdomen and head i think. You see, usually there is no QC in ultrasound. You just have to accept what doc gives you and put it in the blog. Doc has obviously no intention to be a photographer.
Jun 2009- 31 weeks
Another cross section shot 3 weeks later. No consistency except that we know Shyan Qi is developing well :) That's good enough!
